Disney Plus' Lizzie McGuire reboot has hit a road bump as the original show creator has suddenly left after filming two episodes.
According to Variety, creator Terri Minsky has stepped down from her role as showrunner and production on the series has been placed on hiatus. "Fans have a sentimental attachment to ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and high expectations for a new series," a Disney spokesperson said in a statement. “After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show."
Disney is currently on the hunt for a new showrunner, while show star Hilary Duff is on her honeymoon in Mozambique with her new husband, Matthew Koma. Production on the beloved teen series began in November 2019.
At the top of the year, the network unleashed the first footage of McGuire in action as part of their 2020 teaser for what's to come for the streaming platform. Previous to the teaser, the folks behind the show announced that Adam Lamberg would be reprising his role as Gordo. Among the other friendly faces that might return to the show include Lalaine Vergara-Paras (Miranda Sanchez) and Clayton Travis Snyder (Ethan Craft).
