Snow Reported in Los Angeles
Reports of snow in Los Angeles set social media abuzz with photos and video of frozen precipitation falling from the sky Thursday. Some people were tagging their posts with #snowmageddon. Measurable snow hasn't fallen in downtown Los Angeles since 1949. Snow did fall in the usual places, including in the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains. Snow fell in areas with elevations as low as 1,000 feet in parts of greater Los Angeles.(Source: NBC News)
California High Fuel Efficiency Standards Still in Place
the White House announced on Thursday that talks with California had ended without an agreement on a controversial Trump administration proposal to roll back fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks meant to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The rules, known as the Corporate Average Fuel Economy or CAFE standards, would have required all cars and trucks to meet higher fuel efficiency standards by 2025.The proposal would have revoked a waiver granted to California that allows higher fuel efficiency standards. Four Men Suspected in Home Burglary
Bakersfield police are looking for four suspects in a residential burglary in east Bakersfield. The men allegedly broke into a home on the 600 block of Dorado Pass Avenue between 7:30 a.m. and noon on January 25th. The suspects are described as Hispanic between the ages of 18 to 25 with slim to medium builds. (Source: KBAK TV)
