Gov. Newsom pulls plug on LA-SF high-speed train
Governor Gavin Newsom announced he's abandoning a plan to build a high-speed rail line between Los Angeles and San Francisco, a project with an estimated cost that has ballooned to $77 billion. "The current project, would cost too much and respectfully take too long" Newsom said. The idea by Jerry Brown, is years behind schedule. The latest estimate for completion is 2033 according to KBAK TV.
Trump Not Thrilled With Border Deal
President Donald Trump said Tuesday he's unhappy with a hard-won agreement to prevent a new government shutdown and finance construction of more barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border, but he didn't say whether or not he would sign the measure.
California Loses Border Wall Challenge
A federal appeals court has rejected arguments by the state of California and environmental groups who tried to block reconstruction of sections of the U.S.-Mexico border wall. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Trump administration did not exceed its authority by waiving environmental regulations to rebuild sections of wall near San Diego and Calexico.
