A Bruno Mars Song Debate Ends With Man Pistol-Whipping His Friend

A simple case of "Guess that Song" escalated to violence between two longtime buds and Bruno Mars is (sort of) to blame for the dispute.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Roger D. Washburn got into a heated debate with his friend of 50 years when the 71-year-old resorted to pistol-whipping his buddy after the two couldn't come to an agreement on the voice behind a song they were listening to over the weekend. (You can't make this stuff up.)

Washburn, who is currently facing a battery charge over the violent attack, supposedly told the Johnson County Sheriff's Office his longtime pal identified the crooner in question was, indeed, the R&B superstar but he wasn't convinced — even after his friend supposedly provided evidence of the fact using the Shazam app to identify the tune.

Per the police report, the back-and-forth didn't last long before the two got up to confront each other face to face, and that's when Washburn pulled out his .38 revolver. Taunted by his friend, who apparently called him a "chicken s**t," the man struck his friend in the face and arm, setting the gun off not once, but twice during the ensuing scuffle.

While, thankfully, no one was shot during the incident, Washburn was apprehended and taken to the Johnson County Jail on suspicions of battery and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.

But of course, because we can't nice things, the police report does not mention the name of the exact song the longtime friends were fussing over.

Word hasn't gotten around to the "Versace on the Floor" artist  — he's too busy enjoying himself on his "24K Magic World Tour" with CiaraElla MaiCharlie Wilson, and Boyz II Men.
